Why is Business Broadband more expensive?

Friday 1st January 2010 by George Botley

A question I’ve often come accross over the Internet.

Why is Business Broadband more expensive?

I can understand why a business owner, especially a sole-trader may ask this question. The answer is a simple one. “Quality“. When a business provisions a Broadband connection from Torindul Designs or any of our competitors as an industry you are treated with higher quality of service; some tech-bods may know it as “QoS”. Quality of Service is a way of ensuring an individual connection can be gaurenteed a higher down stream and upstreem compared to standard residential connections.

An easier way to imagine such expense is by picturing a telephone exchange as a rollercoaster within a theme park. Next to this rollercoaster is a fast-track lane which as the title suggests, allows fast entry to the ride by skipping the main que and paying for the privlage. Business Broadband connections follow the same principal. If you provision a Business connection; your telephone line is connected to a fast-track lane if you like; thus ensuring a higher quality connection.

New website hosting control panel!

Sunday 13th December 2009 by George Botley

Great News for both our new and existing hosting customers, we have today launched our brand new hosting control panel. This is not the client area, yet a section of your website where you may manage its services, for example MySQL. To access the control panel, either login via our Client Area under ‘Administrate This Account’ or visit http://control.example.com replacing example.com with your own domain name.

This new Control Panel makes it even easier for our customers to manage their own websites and now houses the new Torindul Designs website livery, making it less confusing to the average user; and overall, easier to navigate. We hope our customers enjoy using this new control panel, and would urge any dissatisfied customers email support@torindul-designs.co.uk.

Slow Network Speeds

Thursday 10th December 2009 by George Botley

We have been informed this morning that London Internet Exchange (LINX) are currently experiencing problems, this is having an impact on some Internet Service Providers who would normally cross LINX to reach our network in Croydon. We do not currently have information on the time to resolution. We understand that the issue has been reported by a number of Internet Service Providers connecting at/via LINX. We will provide more information as soon as we have it, but unfortunately it seems that the problem is outside our control. This is the main factor behind customer complaints of slow load times on their services.

Many Thanks,

Investment in Unrivaled Hosting Infrastructure

Tuesday 1st December 2009 by George Botley

Our new years resolution for 2009 was to bring our customers websites from our Data Centre racks in the United States to the United Kingdom. Regardless of the increase in cost, we saw this as a huge priority to keep on top of the increasing bandwidth demands from our clientbase websites. No longer do our customers have to wait for their website to travel the world before reaching them…, they simply hit-enter and its there right in front of their eyes.

We can now confirm, in December 2009 that we have seen significant increase in traffic volume to our clientbase websites following this move which makes us even happier. This year Google made changes to its searching formulae and it now also takes the speed of the network of which a website is hosted into account in addition to the downtime of such services. We can proudly announce that our servers have had higher uptime throughout 2009 (May – November) than those of our local competitors, creating a truly unrivaled network for businesses within the southwest.
